Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs) Questions
asked by our advertisers Questions
asked by our users What makes ProcessIndex.com different from other sites ? We are a directory - and nothing else. We do not want our visitors to spend hours on our site - we expect (and encourage) them to go as quickly as possible to our advertisers sites. We are not a portal - we do not provide "news", "application guides", "book recommendations" etc., we simply show engineers within UK industry where to find the best sites relevant to their work. In that sense, we are very similar to Yahoo, but are entirely focussed to serve the Process Industries. We are already listed in the search engines - why should we be listed in ProcessIndex.com ? Search engines are an excellent and cost effective way of getting highly targeted visitors to your site - but only if you get a good position. But, put simply, there is only enough room for 10 companies in the top 10 results ! With the internet you need to use every (cost effective) way of generating visitors you can. We know how to get top positions in the search engines - it's our business. Click here to see a few of our latest search engine placings. Why is there no banner advertising on ProcessIndex.com ? There is no banner advertising in our directory because we like to keep our site "clean and quick". This makes our site much more pleasurable for our visitors which in turn means they are far more likely to bookmark our site and return more frequently. How is ProcessIndex.com marketed ? All around the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year engineers are surfing the internet for information. We do our best to catch them whilst they are online.
How will I know how much business ProcessIndex.com will generate for me ? We aim for quality rather than quantity. We track the number of visitors to our site and can inform you of the popularity of each page. Our target is to attract 12,000 UK engineers each year - that means we will potentially provide engineering contacts for your company from as little as a quarter of a penny each. How much do you currently pay for good qualified contacts ? You should also be able to obtain a "log file" from your website host showing how many visitors we have sent to your website so you can independently verify our effectiveness. The average cost to generate a new customer using traditional marketing techniques in the UK is £70, so please bear in mind - we are not aiming to send you 100 new customers each month (though we may !). How much does it cost to be included in the ProcessIndex.com ? ProcessIndex.com has been designed to fill a gap in the market for a very low cost, high value targeted directory for the process industries. There are many places on the web where you can list your company details, but a lot of sites are generally not worth the effort as they have a very broad audience and very small (non existant ?) presence directly in your industry sector. You can list your company in our Company Index for just £29 a year - that is less than 8p a day. But, if you list in any of our Product Index categories, your listing in the Company Index is totally free ! Why not add your company now ? How does ProcessIndex.com manage to keep it's prices so low ? We keep our prices low by focusing on what we do best. We are a directory for the process industries and we do not intend being anything else. We also keep our prices low by doing all our own in-house development work - we (and hence you) are not paying for the costs of expensive outsourced consultants. Will ProcessIndex.com change in the future ? Currently, our market research tells us that we have got the formula right, but we are aware markets change. If our customer needs change we will do our best to accommodate. Who is listed in Process Index.com ? Process Index.com consists of UK industrial manufacturers and service providers. Is there a printed version of Process Index.com ? We have no desire to produce a printed version of Process Index. Our planet doesn't need more printed matter !
